Yemanja is the spirit of the sea depicted as a woman and is often compared with the Catholic Mary, Mother of God. African deities were often fused with Catholic saints in post-slave trade Brazil through Macumba and Candon Bley - magic or, in other territories, voodoo. The spirit also represents Mother Earth, a sensual portrait of a feminine deity blissfully unaware of her own beauty. The 1983 cover was considered so sensual that it was banned by the Japanese.

Post-deluge romance consumed as much by love as holocaust fire - the power of the spirit is undiminished. This painting is as gentle as the acoustic music it describes.
