DARE TO SEEK BEAUTY! It takes great courage or, perhaps, a reckless madness to aim for something of beauty, either in essence or through craftsmanship, in today's Contemporary Art scene. Beauty in Art has become marginalised at the expense of mediocrity without skill. To be inspired to create something recognisable in its form is to negate the current trend of seeking the ugly, criminal, subversive and the sordid games that have been so well acted and mimicked. This leaves the artist who finds solace in the arms of beauty as the true avant-garde of the 21st Century, I look for inspiration in the myths and legends of the Amazonian Indians. I seek a vision of a tropical Eden that inhabits our dreams and this at the same time points to a sad reality that threatens to destroy one of the most beautiful and ecologically important regions of this Earth.
